Personal Boundaries, Connection and Relationship | Training
Yes and No – A Clarity Emerging from The Heart
The capacity to perceive, establish and respect coherent boundaries is an essential prerequisite for relating authentically to ourselves and others, both in our personal and professional lives.
A lack of sensitivity on the part of important caregivers, distressing life events, and recurring or chronic violations of our dignity due to the disregard of personal boundaries have a profound impact on our sense of safety, connection and trust.
Experience indicates that by maintaining healthy and coherent boundaries we are able to reconnect with our present experience. This is essential for disrupting the predictive tendencies of our brain, regaining a sense of safety and developing creative self-regulation and resilience.
Boundaries provide protection and containment, help us to stay centered, reduce anxiety, and enable us to have meaningful relationships that allow for genuine intimacy and wellbeing. They are flexible by nature and change from moment to moment depending upon the given context. We have the capacity to say yes or no directly from the bottom of our hearts, and every possibility in between. We can open up and enter into a relationship or choose to close ourselves off to prevent emotional or physical injury.
People working in therapeutic or educational professions benefit from being mindful of their own boundaries. This protects them from burning out and secondary traumatization. Additionally, awareness of our boundaries facilitates more constructive interpersonal interactions.
The workshop offers lectures, discussions, dialogic inquiries, mindfulness-based selfexploration, and exercises to explore and update the way we interact with our personal boundaries both internally and with others.
